DARYA project: a step towards skills recognition in Central Asia

Sommaire

France compétences, as the national coordination point for the European Qualifications Framework, participated in the closing forum of the “Dialogue and action for resourceful youth ” (DARYA) project. This regional initiative, supported by the European Union, aims to strengthen the recognition of skills in Central Asia. In a context of increasing globalization of career paths, skills recognition is an essential lever for improving the employability and adaptability of workers.

The DARYA project covers five countries in the region: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. Its objective is to modernize skills qualification systems by adopting an approach based on prior learning, integrating formal, non-formal, and informal modes of learning. One of the major challenges of the project is to promote regional and international recognition of the qualifications obtained in these countries.

A SEMINAR TO SHARE BEST PRACTICES AND DEVELOP COMMON SOLUTIONS

In this context, France compétences took part in a seminar in December 2025 on national and regional approaches to occupational standards and qualifications in Central Asia. The seminar aimed to support partner countries in developing their qualification systems to make them more transparent, comparable, and sustainable, and better suited to the labor market needs.

SHARED EXPERTISE AND STRENGTHENED COOPERATION

The France compétences team shared their expertise on key topics such as governance of qualification systems, the quality of processes, and the establishment of national registers. These exchanges generated genuine interest among participants and contributed to dialogue and cooperation between European and Central Asian countries. It also helped to identify practical solutions for harmonizing qualification systems while respecting national specificities.

A PARTNERSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE QUALIFICATION SYSTEMS

Participation of France compétences in the DARYA project is part of the international cooperation initiative aimed at promoting modern and accessible qualification systems on a global scale. The seminar provided a unique opportunity to share experiences, explore good practices in Central Asia, Italy and France, and discuss the challenges and solutions related to the development of multinational occupational profiles, national qualification standards, and the validation of non-formal and informal learning.

We hope that the knowledge gained and the links forged during this event contribute to the continued development of qualification systems, strengthen regional cooperation, and promote lifelong learning in Central Asia.
